Multi-Cam MAX Installation Guide
Multi-Cam MAX is available for pre-order and ships July 1st
Multi-Cam MAX consists of the Onform Camera Connector app running on a Windows PC which relays video from up to 4 fixed cameras to an iPad wirelessly. The standard configuration is for the fixed cameras to be connected to a PC using ethernet or usb, depending on the camera model. Unlike traditional studio systems, the PC has no video review interface. Instead, the iPad is used to view the video from the cameras, as well as control the camera settings like shutterspeed, recording rate (frames per second), orientation etc. This gives the user near total control of the camera setup and capture without having to interact with the PC, all through the Onform app.
PC requirements
For installations with IDS and FLIR cameras, minimum specs include a Windows 11 PC with Nvidia RTX 3060 or better and Intel i7, or Ryzen 7 cpu, 16Gb ram and 1Tb SSD is recommended. For better performance, an Nvidia RTX 4070 gpu is recommended.
For Optitrack Primecolor camera installations, a Windows 11 PC with Intel i9, ryzen 9 and Nividia RTX 4070, 16Gb ram and 1Tb SSD or better is recommended. A network card that supports 2.5Gb is also recommended, however, an ethernet to USB 3.0 converter can also be used. A 2.5Gb switch is also recommended.
Camera Specifications
Choosing cameras depends on your budget and preferred configuration. Optitrack cameras provide the best quality, but at a higher price, and require an ethernet switch, but allow for much longer cable runs which enables more flexible installations and cameras further away from the PC. FLIR and IDS have lower cost highly reliable cameras and don't require networking equipment. Most newer computers have at least 2 USB ports which can directly connect with the cameras. For installations with 3 or 4 cameras be sure to check your PC and it might be necessary to also purchase a USB hub.

Camera Connector Installation
The Camera Connector is a small app that runs in the system tray of your Windows 11 PC. It does the heavy lifting for the system by communicating with your fixed cameras and relaying the video to your iPad. It has no interface to view videos, rather, it provides some configuration settings to manage the camera feeds.

Download the Onform Camera Connector and follow the installation instructions. It will most likely also require that you install the latest .NET runtime from Microsoft, which is a free download that enables key features of the app. Download and install the Windows .NET 8 Desktop Runtime after installing the Camera Connector, which should also prompt you to install it.
Use the default settings for installing Camera Connector on your PC.
After downloading the .zip file, double click it to show the .exe file, then double click the .exe to begin installation. Chose 'Run Anyway' and proceed with the install.

Upon completion, you will see a dialog to launch the app, note the app lives in the system tray so you won't see it pop up on the screen upon launch.

Installation is now complete for the PC. The next steps will use your iPad to configure the system.
Configuring the camera using your iPad
To connect with and configure the Camera Connector, open your iPad, navigate to the All Files Library and tap the camera icon to open the Onform Camera. Then tap on 'Multi-cam' button in the top left corner. Note you must use an iPad or Mac with Multi-Cam MAX, iPhone is not supported.
More details coming soon!
Firewall Settings
The Camera Connector needs 3 ports open to function correctly. Make sure the Windows Defender Firewall has these rules configured:
- Inbound UDP Port 5353 (Zero config or Apple Bonjour service) which allows the iPad to discover the PC with Camera Connector installed
- Inbound and outbound TCP Ports 49155,49180 which are the ports that Camera Connector uses to send video files to the iPad
The default installation should allow these but if needed, Inbound rules can be created for each of these.
